The Anvil engine-powered game takes place in Paris during the French Revolution, with the developers focusing on ensuring a high level of detail and visual quality, including dynamic lighting and reflections. The city is divided into seven distinctive districts, each of which boasts of distinguished itself from the other due to its architectural style and inhabitants. The engine allows for rendering around 5,000 characters in a crowd, making the world feel alive and the experience all the more immersive.

Meanwhile, the main characters Arno can be customised greatly, from his bracers and coats to his weapons, with change in attire also affecting stats like health, melee and stealth. Combat has been improved, necessitating that players utilise parry and dodge mechanics to be efficient, while stealth system has also been improved with the addition of a cover mechanic. The parkour system has also been touched up, making for more fluid movement.

Seamless co-op missions, which one can tackle with upto three friends, add for even more gameplay time. There’s also the Time Anomaly, which transports the protagonist into WWII-era occupied France, and sees players climbing the iconic Eiffel Tower and using mounted machine guns to shoot down warplanes.
