Two new videos for Battlcry illuminate multiplayer class-based combat

Bethesda has posted two new videos for Battlecry, giving us a good look at the combat at the free-to-play class-based multiplayer third-person shooter for the PC. The first clip is a teaser, whetting our appetite for BattleCry Studios’ fast-paced team-oriented game, which has several factions and different warriors to choose from. Bloody yet cartoony, the game is reminiscent of Team Fortress 2, which is a good thing.

The second video is a longer one, showing off pre-Alpha gameplay from the developer’s PAX Australia panel with three classes (which can be changed mid-match):  The Enforcer is a heavy melee class boasting of the largest health pool in the game, which he can extend by transforming his sword into a shield; the Tech Archer is a fighter with the longest ranged attacks who can use Sonic Shots to knock back opponents, while the Duelist relies on speed and stealth (cloaking ability shown) to gain the upper hand in battles to make up for his low health bar.

The Land Grab mode is shown in which players must capture points on the map, draining them of points, while movement around the map is aided by grapple. We also learn that enforcers can deploy their shield to defend themselves while building up adrenaline, which can then be used to supercharge attacks, or even use their devastating ultimate power once the adrenaline meter is full. Expect a Beta to launch early in 2015.
